The ministries of Powerhouse Church of God in Christ ministers to the total man, woman, boy & girl. These are some of the ministries of our church. Within each ministry are different areas (or sub-ministries) that supports that ministry. We believe that every member has a gift to contribute and we would love for you to get involved.
We encourage you to check them out and think about how you can make a difference!
Membership in the various ministries is open to those interested upon successful completion of our New Membership Orientation course (NMO).
(NOTE: Christian Education is a core requirement in order to participate in the other ministries.)
Christian Education

This is the education component of Powerhouse where we go to in-depth studies of the Word of God and what His Will is for our lives. Our Wednesday Night Bible Study is our mid-week study where we come together for in-depth studies of the scriptures. We meet via teleconference every Wednesday evening at 7:15 P.M. To join us dial (267) 807-9495, then enter Access Code: 966-395-362# when prompted. Sunday School meets back at Powerhouse on Sunday Mornings from 9:30 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. beginning on January 29, 2023. We invite you to join and grow with us as we continue to grow in GOD!
Music / Worship & Arts

The Music / Worship & Arts Ministry consist of committed and dedicated singers, musicians and praise dancers that help lead the congregation in praise and worship. Our Minister of Music along with our talented musicians seek to discern what Holy Spirit has for them in each worship service, and strives to follow that discernment in ushering us into a high time in God in preparation of receiving His Holy Word from our leader, Bishop Johnny A. Tates.
Evangelism

The Evangelism Ministry is designed to prepare the church community to be effective witnesses of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The goal is to extend Powerhouse COGIC beyond the walls of our physical location and carry out the mission of the church throughout the community by doing what the Bible says, “Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled” (St. Luke 14:23b KJV). We believe that evangelism is a “spirit lead” way of life that is directed by Him that sent us.
P.H.Y.D. (Youth)

The Powerhouse Youth Department (P.H.Y.D.) exists to teach our youth the empowering Word of God, which familiarizes them with biblical characters and pillars who have helped shape our faith; to Develop and Strengthen their relationships—including their walk with God through his Son, Jesus Christ; to Enable them to become leaders of today by giving them practical skills based upon Christian principles. In the Bible, Jesus describes himself as being “The Way, The Truth, and The Life (John 14:16).” P.H.Y.D. endeavors to lead youth and young adult students to Christ, while empowering them to live a transforming and contagious life worthy of the Kingdom of God. We strive to be that “light set upon a hill,” beacons SHINING, GLOWING, BLAZING brightly, pointing the way to eternal life, hence our purpose: “Reflecting the light of Christ while leaving our mark on a dark world.”

The Missions Ministry of Powerhouse Church of God in Christ strives to fulfill and perform the duties of Matthew 25:35-36 with commitment, prayer, service, and dedication through community outreach within the church and local community. God opens the door for evangelism and the witnessing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for we are sent to serve God and the people of God.

The Technology Ministry is the digital and technological arm of Powerhouse COGIC. Their function is to be the technology resource and support for all Powerhouse COGIC Administration and Ministries; to embrace and support the vision of our leader and Senior Pastor, Bishop Johnny A. Tates, and to provide service(s) in relation to the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the digital era. Their areas of ministry include the following, but not limited to: Web/Social Media Platforms, Audio/Video and Creative Arts, Digital Media, and Network Infrastructure & Technical Support.
